The statistician’s utterance “statistical analysis and modeling involves art and science” implies a mixture of a skill acquired by experience (art) and a technique that reflects a precise application of fact or principle (science). The purpose of this cursory article is to bring forth a method to determine the quality of blend of art and science expended by the statistician on a given project. The article is in the third edition of my Statistical and Machine-Learning Data Mining: Techniques for Better Predictive Modeling, Analysis of Big Data.
